So I know that this post is late, as Halloween was almost a month ago. I absolutely had to share my Cher Horowitz Halloween Costume, and the lengthy process behind it. I know, you are probably reading this thinking “totally basic” however, hear me out. My Halloween costume took about 4-5 months to put together. Anyone reading this by now is definitely thinking “are you totally insane?”, well, yes, and no. First of all, if I was going to do this costume, I was doing it the right way. The yellow tartan skirt suit set Cher wears in the film is by designer Jean Paul Gaultier and is from the “Gaultier Junior” line. So, giving I love vintage - I HAD to hunt this jacket down and wear the REAL DEAL. It took months and months of searching. One day someone had posted the jacket on Therealreal.com and I snagged it. The blazer needed a major dry clean along with alterations but was truly gorgeous. Next, the yellow cardigan Cher wore underneath the coat. Okay now you are probably thinking, “so? that’s easy”, well…. AS IF! This is not just any yellow cardigan. The cardigan is slightly cropped and also had a wool and vintage look to it. I searched for just the right color, and fit, until finding a $10 vintage cardigan on Ebay that was eerily similar to the cardigan Cher wore. Next, was the skirt. I went through 3 different skirts until finding the one which closest matched the jacket, and this was way more difficult then you could imagine due to the detail of this coat. Last, I had a custom pink furry pen made from NutHeadPenPals on etsy, and to top it off found a “FAUX FUR” mini white back pack and matching socks from Forever21. I paired it with a cute pair of white heels and I was ready to roll with the homies in the most AUTHENTIC Cher Horowitz costume to date. I hope you enjoy.
